Dragonfly Creek Recording is located on a private ranch in the scenic hills of Malibu. Surrounded by vineyards, horses, and just ten minutes to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, it is an idyllic environment.
The Studio features a completely isolated tracking room with plenty of light, a 12’ foot ceiling with variable acoustics, a large iso room for piano or drums and a small iso booth for vocals, single instruments or amps. There is an especially rich sounding Yamaha C7 piano, originally from the world famous Jazz Bakery, a Yamaha Recording Custom drum kit, several guitars, basses, amps and small percussion instruments.
The large Control Room is custom designed by George Augspurger, whose monitors are found in the top recording studios in the world. It also features a separate machine room to keep the noise floor very low and allow the CR to be used as an additional recording space, optimizing creative options.
The Farmhouse is also available for recording. It provides astounding live, but controlled and focused acoustics with 34’ ceilings and over 610 sq ft of recording space. It is wired with with 24 mic lines and video and offers a unique and incredible recording sound.
There is an ample assortment of mics, including tubes and ribbons; 24 channels of premium mic pres including API, BAE, Calrec, LaChapell, Avedis & Shadow Hills. Pro Tools 10/11 HD4 is the main workstation with 24 analog Apogee Symphony I/O and 24 digital. Outboard gear includes Retro, Purple audio, DBX, Empirical Labs. Monitoring is by Shadow Hills and Barefoot Audio, and is fine tuned by Bob Hodas.
Also available for use is a Guest House with kitchen, bath and loft. The ranch features an organic vegetable garden and fruit trees, free range chickens and eggs, and a private chef available upon request.
